Unnecessary Ruthlessness: The Legacy of Henry Kissinger
Many of his major actions were unnecessary for American security, and did serious damage to the world.
Hello everyone,
I wrote for Merion West about Henry Kissinger and his impact on the world while he was National Security Advisor and Secretary of State. While I agree with foreign policy realists that hard power is more important than moral sentiments in determining world events, I reject the idea that a country must always do what is in its self-interest to the exclusion of other concerns. Doing what is in your own interest is not the same as doing what is necessary to protect yourself, and Kissinger caused a lot of unnecessary suffering:
I highly recommend Merion West to curious readers. They publish a wide variety of insightful pieces on politics, culture, philosophy, science, and other topics, as well as poetry, short fiction, and interviews.
My very best to you all.
